Our new USA office will be operative from August 19th, states Noreq Managing Director Styrk Bekkenes.
- We clearly identify the US as an interesting area that provides great opportunities of strengthening our market share. There is an especially large activity in the offshore sector, with many companies operating in this field located in Houston, comments Mr Bekkenes.
It is therefore important for Noreq to be represented by its own employees in the region, and this involves Bernardo Cuellar commencing at Noreq LLC's office in Houston this week.
Mr Cuellar´s background is in economics, sales and marketing. He has broad experience in commercial enterprises in the US, including a position as representative of Innovation Norway in both Houston and Mexico.
- We already have business dealings with the US, but if we wish to expand further, it is important to have our own staff in personal contact with the local market. We supplied both fenders and the new compact davit to US customers earlier this year. Another exciting prospect is the close contact we have established with major US offshore participants, and their strong interest in our torpedo lifeboat, adds Mr Bekkenes.
Strong growth
At the same time as we open our US office, Noreq currently is establishing an office in Brazil, in collaboration with Bergen Group Dreggen. Mr Wellington de Barros has been appointed to the Brazil office and will commence his activities for DreggenNoreq do Brasil in September 1st.
Noreq has been active in terms of recruiting new employees this year, with our staff in Singapore increasing from two to four members earlier this summer.
At the main office in Husnes, five new members have joined us. Since the beginning of 2010 Noreq´s staff has increased from 23 to 32 people so far this year, a total of 9 new team members.
- These are definitely busy times for us and we have much to think about on a daily basis, which is of course a very positive situation. In addition, hectic trade fair activities approach and we will be participating at ONS in Stavanger, SMM in Hamburg and Rio Oil & Gas next month, concludes Mr Bekkenes.
