Safety is essential for everyone operating at sea.

International rules and regulations have become more stringent.

In Noreq we choose to stay in front of this development, to make our clients operations safer and to ensure the product investment.

Torpedo lifeboat
SINTEF Marintek tests have proved that the design of the Torpedo free-fall lifeboat has advantages compared to any known design today. The Torpedo lifeboat will be built to the highest industry standards.

Features such as installation and maintenance efficiency and lifelong service have been emphasized during development. The Torpedo lifeboat will comply with the new DNV/Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF) standard for design of freefall lifeboats (DNV-OS-E406). The Torpedo lifeboat will increase safety compared to standard lifeboats for vessels, floating rigs, Jack-Up rigs, FPSOs and installations worldwide.

RIG VERSION

The Torpedo lifeboat can be installed onboard fixed installations, FPSO's, drillships, Jack-ups or floating units.

The rig version is available with capacity for up to 70 persons and installation heights of up to 46 meters.

SHIP VERSION

The ship version also holds the unique torpedo properties. The building techniques, standards and outfitting is representing a new quality level in the SOLAS free-fall lifeboat segment.

The launching arrangement is available either built in marine grade steel material or vacuum-injected composite materials. The latter reducing the overall weight by more than 30%.

Features
- Its design and hull strength means that the lifeboat can withstand  extreme
drop heights and harsh/severe weather conditions
- The combination of design and weight reduces retardation tremendously
and therefore also the forces that act on personnel onboard
- Forward speed and distance from drop site after resurfacing are more
than doubled compared to standard design free-fall lifeboats
- The Torpedo free-fall lifeboat is less affected by drop angle
and height, wave height and patterns, wind forces and direction
 – compared to standard design free-fall lifeboats
- The torpedo lifeboat has unique directional stability in the dive
and also when penetrating and moving through water
- A new seat and belt system has been developed to satisfy the IMO/DNV
 boarding time requirements

Both versions will be certified in accordance with IMO Solas regulations and/or as per DNV-E406. Launching appliances corresponding with the size of lifeboat can be delivered as a rig version or as deck/wall mounted version for installation on FPSO's, Drillships etc. These are also certified either as IMO SOLAS or in combination with NORSOK R-002.
